Rose Ekwe

About

Rose Ekwé is a textile designer and weaver researcher graduated from design, fashion and weaving at the École Duperré in Paris, and at the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Mulhouse (HEAR).

Her mission is to research, design and weave tailor-made new bio-based textile solutions, without having negative impacts on the environment, health or humans.

Installed in her studio at the Ateliers de Paris where she is currently in residence, she nevertheless maintains a strong link with the Alsatian region where she was also trained, through collaborations with laboratories.

Textile Design & Research Workshop

By collaborating with engineers and scientists, she wants to explores new sustainable manufacturing processes. She developed her own spinning and weaving technique allowing her to design, from plants, algae and minerals, compostable and patented textiles that she called Gélotextiles®.
In 2019, she founded her textile design and research workshop to design Gélotextiles® on request for custom projects, as well as other surfaces woven from renewable materials derived from biomass
